Scottsboro Officer Injured in Shooting Welcomed Home
On August 14, 2025, Scottsboro Police Lieutenant Derek Porch returned home after being released from an out-of-state healthcare facility where he had been recovering from injuries sustained in a shooting. Members of the Scottsboro Police Department traveled to bring him safely back to the city.
At the Alabama–Tennessee state line, Porch was met by dozens of law enforcement officers from across the region in a powerful display of unity and support.
