Attalla Secures $716,312 Grant for Recreation Facility Upgrades

 

 

ATTALLA, AL – The City of Attalla has been awarded a substantial grant of $716,312 from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to significantly enhance its recreational facilities. The grant will fund the construction of a new splash pad, pickleball courts, and additional tennis courts, providing new amenities for residents.

Mayor Larry Means expressed his gratitude to those who supported the city’s application. “I would like to thank Governor Kay Ivey, ADEC Director Boswell, and the Attalla City Council for their support,” Means said. He also extended his thanks to Senator Britt, Senator Tuberville, Congressman Mike Rogers, and their staff for their assistance.

Means specifically praised the Attalla City Council for its proactive approach to securing funding for the city. “I would like to specifically thank the Attalla City Council for always being very aggressive in pursuing every grant possible for our citizens,” he added.

The new facilities are expected to provide more opportunities for family recreation and outdoor activity, benefiting citizens of all ages. This grant represents a significant investment in the community’s quality of life and its recreational infrastructure.
