Centre Man Arrested in Rome Following Police Chase
Rome, GA – A Centre, Alabama man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he led police on a chase through Rome before being taken into custody.
Dayton Keyle Stephens, 29, of Centre, was arrested after Rome police attempted to stop him for a broken taillight. Instead of pulling over, Stephens allegedly fled, leading officers on a pursuit that ended at a residence on Superior Drive, which police later confirmed belongs to his brother.
After being apprehended, Stephens reportedly admitted to officers that he was driving with a suspended license and was aware he had outstanding felony warrants. During his arrest, police also discovered a suspected illegal vape in his possession. That item has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab for further analysis.
Stephens is now facing multiple charges, including driving on a suspended license, brake light violation, obstruction of law enforcement, and probation violation. He remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation.
