Rural King to Open New Location in Gadsden, Bringing Jobs and Investment

GADSDEN, Ala. — The City of Gadsden has announced that national retail chain Rural King will open a new location at the Gregerson’s Midtown Center, the former site of the Cash Saver grocery store. The move marks another step in the company’s continued expansion throughout Alabama.

The project represents a $12 million investment by Rural King, which plans to renovate the existing building to house its newest store. Known for its wide selection of farm and home supplies, Rural King is expected to create 90 full-time jobs in addition to part-time positions, providing a significant boost to the local economy.

City officials say the project will revitalize a key retail corridor in downtown Gadsden and attract shoppers from across the region, including neighboring Cherokee County. The addition of Rural King is also expected to spark further development opportunities within the shopping center, with nearby businesses such as AutoZone positioned for potential expansion.

Gadsden Mayor Craig Ford praised the collaboration that made the deal possible, crediting Rural King, the Gregerson family, John Moore, the Commercial Development Board, and other local stakeholders for helping bring the project to fruition.

Renovation work on the site is slated to begin before the end of the year. Once completed, the new Rural King location will serve as a major retail anchor in the heart of Gadsden and support ongoing efforts to strengthen the city’s commercial landscape.
