Leesburg Man Injured In Fall While Cutting Trees

27 year old Austin Hulsey suffered what appeared to be serious injuries on Tuesday morning when he was knocked out of a bucket on a boom truck. Hulsey was in the bucket cutting the top section of a tree, they were taking down by sections, when a section of the tree fell back onto the bucket causing Hulsey to be ejected. He fell some 30 to 40 feet.

He was working with the Chandler Tree Service when the accident occurred. Tony Chandler was working with Hulsey when the accident happened. Chandler told WEIS Radio News Hulsey had made several cuts with Chandler using cables to pull the tree away from the operator.

Hulsey was treated on the scene by Atrium Floyd EMS then transported to a landing zone at the FEMA Building in Leesburg to an awaiting Medi-vac helicopter for transport to Atrium Floyd Medical Center in Rome.

Leesburg Fire Department assisted at the scene of the accident which was on Hale Drive and also set up the Landing Zone.
