Rome Man Arrested After Explosive Device Detonated at Local Business
ROME, GA — A 64-year-old Rome man was arrested this week after allegedly detonating an explosive device outside Loyd’s Wrecker Service on Turner McCall Boulevard.
According to authorities, William Craig Crabtree, a former employee of the business, fled the scene in a 2008 Honda Pilot after the explosion. Investigators said the device was deliberately set off, and no injuries were reported.
Crabtree had reportedly harassed the business owner and other employees following his termination, leading to heightened concerns in recent weeks.
He is now facing multiple serious charges, including possession or transportation of an explosive with intent to kill, injure, or intimidate; manufacturing an explosive device; and possession of explosives by a person convicted or under indictment.
The incident remains under investigation.
