Laura Irene Dempsey Whorton, age 71 of Cave Spring passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

A memorial service will be held 2PM Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Rehoboth Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Whorton; sisters, Nora Ruth Dempsey Rickard, Melanie Delaine Dempsey Adams (Scott), Rebecca Dempsey Wallace, Donna Laverne Dempsey Howard (John), Angela Gail Dempsey Weimer; grandchildren, Chasity Hope Highfield, Christina Anne Whorton Bailey, Samantha Louise Whorton Johnson and Savannah Rose Whorton; great grandchildren, Gracie, Asher, Abigail, Destiny, Bryson and Kaclynn; she also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jodie Clayton Dempsey and Peggy Sue McCullers Dempsey; infant brothers, Jodie Wayne Dempsey and Jack Clayton Dempsey.

Ms. Whorton was a native of Floyd County, GA and was of the Baptist faith.
