Retired Rainbow City Police Chief Greg Carroll Passes Away
RAINBOW CITY, AL – The Rainbow City Police Department is mourning the loss of retired Police Chief Greg Carroll, who passed away on July 12, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Carroll dedicated more than two decades of service to the Rainbow City community. He began his career with the department on April 1, 1993, and went on to serve in multiple roles, including detective, Captain of Investigations, and ultimately, Chief of Police.
Throughout his tenure, Chief Carroll played a pivotal role in numerous investigations and was widely respected for his leadership and commitment to justice. He officially retired from the department on July 1, 2016, after years of distinguished service.
In a statement released by current Police Chief Camp Yancey, Carroll was remembered as a dedicated public servant whose contributions left a lasting impact on the department and the community.
“Chief Carroll served his community diligently, and his legacy will not be forgotten,” the statement read. “Our hearts are with his family and friends during this time.”
