Early Morning Fire Reported at KTH Leesburg Plant

Leesburg, AL – An early morning fire at the KTH manufacturing facility in Leesburg prompted a multi-agency emergency response on Monday.

Just after 6:00 a.m., emergency dispatch received reports of an industrial fire within the plant. Witnesses on scene reported that the blaze originated from a malfunction involving a conveyor belt system, which ignited a fire.

Fire departments from Leesburg, Centre, and Sand Rock were immediately paged and responded to the scene. Upon arrival, crews observed smoke from the exterior of the building. Fortunately, on-site maintenance personnel were able to act swiftly, containing and extinguishing the flames before the fire could escalate further.

Firefighters entered the building to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and to assess any potential lingering hazards. As a precaution, the facility was evacuated, and employees were directed to designated rally points around the perimeter of the building.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. While smoke was still present inside the facility, the overall extent of the damage remains undetermined at this time.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the equipment malfunction.
