Man Charged Following Rainbow City Hit-and-Run, DUI Investigation

RAINBOW CITY, Ala. — A man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run and rollover crash that occurred in early May.

On May 7, 2025, Rainbow City Police responded to reports of a possible hit-and-run near Whorton Bend Road and Highway 77. Officers later located the vehicle involved further down Whorton Bend Road, where it had overturned and was resting on its driver’s side.

The driver, identified as 57-year-old Larry Boyles, was initially cited for leaving the scene of an accident. Following an investigation into both incidents, Boyles was formally charged with felony Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.

He was taken into custody on July 10 and released the same day on a $2,500 bond.
