Etowah County Deputies Bring Home Three Medals at World Police & Fire Games

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office has reason to celebrate after its Motor Unit earned three medals at the prestigious World Police and Fire Games (WPFG), held this past weekend in Birmingham.

Deputies Jamie Rowan, Shane McClellan, Anthony Davis, Jameson Jenkins, and Jon Works proudly represented Etowah County on the international stage, demonstrating exceptional skill, professionalism, and dedication during the Olympic-style competition.

“This is a proud moment for our agency and our community,” said Sheriff Jonathon Horton. “These deputies didn’t just represent Etowah County—they represented the values, work ethic, and commitment to excellence that define our office. I couldn’t be more proud of their performance and the way they carried themselves on a global stage.”

The World Police and Fire Games, held biennially, draw more than 8,500 first responder athletes from over 70 countries. Participants include law enforcement officers, firefighters, and members of correctional, border, immigration, and customs agencies. The event features more than 60 competitive sports and showcases the athleticism and discipline of public safety professionals worldwide.

This year’s Games were hosted in Birmingham, with events taking place across the city and at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC). The Etowah County Sheriff’s Motor Unit competed among elite counterparts and stood out with their medal-winning performances.

The medals mark not only athletic achievement but also a significant moment of pride for the local community. The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging residents to join in congratulating the deputies for their outstanding effort and well-earned success on the world stage.
