Centre- A widespread power outage left nearly two thousand Cherokee Electric Cooperative customers without electricity in Centre on Sunday morning.
The outage began around 8 a.m. and was caused by what officials are calling an “unwelcome visitor”—a small animal that got onto the transformer connection to TVA power lines.
Co-op Manager Randal Wilkie says the outage affected 1,974 customers at its peak. Power was restored to most within an hour and a half, but about 130 customers remained without service due to scattered, isolated issues.
All power was fully restored by 10 a.m.
