Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest for SORNA Violation
Rainbow City — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Gadsden man on Saturday evening for violating the Alabama Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 22, 2025, an officer patrolling the 3400 block of Rainbow Drive initiated a stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the course of the stop, it was discovered that one of the vehicle’s occupants was in violation of SORNA requirements.
The individual, identified as 23-year-old Harless Battles of Gadsden, was taken into custody and formally charged with a SORNA violation. He is currently being held on a $2,500 bond.
Authorities stress that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
