Crossville Man Arrested for First-Degree Sexual Abuse Involving Juvenile

FORT PAYNE, Ala. — A Crossville man has been arrested on charges of first-degree sexual abuse following an investigation involving a juvenile victim from Madison County, authorities announced this week.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received the case on Monday, June 23. The alleged abuse occurred in DeKalb County. Working in coordination with the Department of Human Resources and the DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center, investigators quickly gathered evidence and conducted interviews.

As a result of their efforts, an arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday, June 25. Gerardo Duran Dumas, 25, of Crossville, was taken into custody and booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center.

Sheriff Nick Welden expressed his appreciation to the agencies involved in the investigation.

“We’d like to thank the 9th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, the DeKalb County Department of Human Resources, and the DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center for their assistance,” Welden said. “We appreciate the working relationship we have with each of them.”

 On Monday June 23rd, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators received a case involving a juvenile from Madison County who had been sexually assaulted in Dekalb County.  Investigators began gathering information and conducted interviews along with the Department of Human Resources and the DeKalb County Children’s Advocacy Center, an arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday, June 25th for Sex Abuse in the First Degree. Gerardo Duran Dumas (25 of Crossville) was arrested and transported to DeKalb County Detention Center.
