Staying True to His Roots: Randy Cobbs on Life, Music, and ‘Country Boy’

On Wednesday, June 25th, WEIS Radio had the privilege of interviewing “Country Boy” Randy Cobb. You may have heard of his debut single, the hit song ” Not On Me,” which climbed the breakout chart and became the anthem for the working class in 2024. With “Not On Me” reaching over 4 million views, Cobb was not finished quite yet. His follow-up single, “Country Boy,” is a depiction of the lifestyle of country folk and country living. Cobb continues to record new songs for his growing catalogue and will be returning to the stage this year to support his new single and original tunes.

Originally born in Pensacola, Florida, he began writing music at a very young age to cope with childhood adversity. As a young adult, Randy moved to lower Alabama, but to him, it’s home. Randy is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, hunting, and camping. He finds inspiration in being outdoors and through life’s experiences.

Randy Cobb prides himself on being a family man, so in 2012, Randy started his own trucking company and pulled away from music. Randy’s focus was on his daughter and his late mother. However, Cobb’s passion for music never left. Throughout his time running his trucking company, he went back to writing, playing, and recording his originals.

After losing his mother, brother, and livelihood to COVID, Randy fired up his pursuit of music. That’s when he released “Not On Me” to the hit country radio and debuted on Music Row’s breakout chart.
Randy has enjoyed performing with major acts at many clubs, fairs, and festivals across the region. His love and passion for music opened many doors to many different major labels in Nashville, Tennessee. Although a deal was never signed, Randy continues to grow and share his artistry as an independent singer/songwriter.
