Hazmat Spill Contained After Truck Overturns Near I-59 in Gadsden
Gadsden – A truck carrying hazardous materials overturned Tuesday morning on an off-ramp from Interstate 59, prompting a swift response from emergency crews.
The accident occurred on the sharp curve of the off-ramp leading to Highway 77, near the area where Gadsden and Attalla meet. According to the Gadsden Fire Department, the truck flipped while navigating the curve, causing an unknown hazardous substance to begin leaking from the vehicle.
Emergency units including Engine 7, Rescue 2, Truck 20, and Fire Marshal 2 responded quickly to the scene. Crews worked efficiently to contain the spill, preventing it from spreading and causing harm to the public or the environment.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
