School Board Recognizes County Commission
During the regular meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education Monday afternoon, the Board adopted a resolution of appreciation for the Cherokee County Commission. Superintendent Welsh expressed his heartfelt thanks for the Commission allowing the Board to hold its regular meetings in the Commission Chambers for a considerable time and for their generous financial support in helping the Board obtain a new building on the Armory Road for the New Home of the Cherokee County Board of Education.
During the March 24th Meeting of the Commission, $462,500 was approved to assist the Board purchase the building and property located at 200 Armory Road in Centre. This was half the purchase of price of $925,000. County Commission Chairman, Tim Burgess was in attendance to receive the Resolution. He had these comments:
That property is located at 200 Armory Road with the building and property with an adjacent lot with a purchase price of $925,000. According to the agreement this will be for the Board of Education’s Offices. They are now housed in a County owned building at 130 East Main Street.
