Centre, Ala. — A car slammed into a house just off East Main Street in Centre late Thursday night, leaving significant damage and sending the driver to the hospital.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the site of the new courthouse currently under construction in downtown Centre. Fortunately, the homeowners, the Tuckers, were not inside at the time of the accident. They were attending a local ball game when the incident occurred.

The cause of the crash has not yet been released. WEIS Radio has reached out to authorities for more information.

The driver, whose identity has not been made public, sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to a hospital in the Rome, Georgia area for treatment.

Photos from the aftermath, shared with WEIS Radio by the homeowner, show extensive damage to the residence. No other injuries were reported.
