The Cherokee County Sheriff Department has an active search underway for an individual who is the subject of an attempted theft early today on county road 49 near Tucker’s Chapel.
According to reports, someone attempted to take a Side by Side vehicle when the owner fired a shot at the perpetrator. The person fled into a wooded area. Law enforcement personnel are on the scene searching the area.
It is not known if the individual is armed. Residents of the area are asked to secure their vehicles, outbuildings, and home.
