Update to Risk of Severe Storms For Today:

From the National Weather Service in Birmingham:

There has been an adjustment to the area with risk of severe storms for today.

The level one risk area has been moved slightly North to include more of the WEIS listening area.

All of Cherokee and Etowah Counties are now included in the level one risk area:

 

A cold front will quickly pass through the area today. There’s a low
chance for strong to severe storms along the front.

FORECAST CHANGES:

Where: Generally the southeastern half of Central Alabama.

When: This afternoon (12 PM – 6 PM)

Threats: Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and large hail up to quarter
size.

There is a Marginal to Slight risk (level 1 to 2 of 5) for severe
thunderstorms this afternoon for the southeastern half of Central
Alabama. Threats include damaging straight-line wind gusts up to 60
mph and large hail up to quarter size.
