Thursday & Friday Weather Outlook

THURSDAY & FRIDAY WEATHER OUTLOOK

This is your weather update from WEIS Radio.

Rain and thunderstorms will continue across the area today and into Friday, with some storms possibly becoming severe. While most of our listening area currently sits outside the main severe weather risk zone, that could change as conditions evolve. The National Weather Service office in Birmingham has issued the following guidance:

TODAY (THURSDAY):

  • Location: Most of Central Alabama

  • Timing: Between 7 AM and 5 PM

  • Threats: Damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail up to the size of quarters

FRIDAY:

  • Location: Generally the southeastern half of Central Alabama

  • Timing: Friday afternoon

  • Threats: Damaging wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and quarter-size hail

These storms are associated with an approaching cold front expected to move through the area by tomorrow. Once that front passes, conditions are expected to trend drier heading into the weekend.

There have been some small adjustments made to the threat areas and timing, so it’s important to stay weather-aware.

As always, WEIS Radio will monitor the situation closely and bring you the latest updates as they happen. Stay tuned to WEIS Radio and check back frequently for any changes to your local forecast.
