During the County Commission meeting Tuesday afternoon, the Commission approved the purchase of a new 7.5 ton Trane heating and cooling unit for the Sheriff’s department. This was necessary due to a heat exchanger burning out on the present system. The cost for the new unit with installation was $20,600.
The Sheriff’s department also presented the Commission with a proposal to replace the outdated body cams worn by Sheriff Department personnel. The 5 year lease for the 38 cameras is $19,868 for the first year and $19,969 each year for the next 4 years. This was approved by the Commission.
The job description for the Crisis Intervention Case Manager for the Sheriff Department was approved.
A lease agreement with Wells Fargo Financial Services for a copier at the Highway was approved.
The Commission approved the speed limit reduction on a portion of County Road 44 from the intersection of County Road 102 to the dead end. This is about 600 feet with the speed limit reduced from 45 to 35 miles per hour.
A Chevrolet Tahoe was declared surplus for the Sheriff Department so it can be sold at the next sale.
Chairman Burgess announced the resignation of Jana Chesnut from the Library Board. The Commission is now accepting applications, resumes and letters for this position through Wednesday, June 18th.
The next meeting of the County Commission will be June 9th at 10 am.
