GADSDEN, AL – Gadsden State Community College is hosting a series of summer orientations for new students beginning in June. Cardinal Commit is Gadsden State’s orientation program designed to assist students with enrollment in the College, and it connects them with individuals and groups that will assist in their success and college completion.
“Cardinal Commit is a great event for any first-time freshman or even someone who has taken an extended break from college to attend. It is designed to assist students with navigating their MyGadsdenState student portal, learning about making payments, viewing their student account, registering for classes and becoming acclimated to the campus,” said Cody Beck, Director of Enrollment Services.
There are five weekday sessions to choose from:
* June 26 at the Ayers Campus in Anniston
* July 10 at Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre
* July 15, July 17, and July 31 at the Wallace Drive Campus in Gadsden
A Saturday session is scheduled for July 26 on the Wallace Drive Campus. Cardinal Commit begins with sessions on navigating the student MyGadsdenState portal and a financial aid session. After that, students will break into groups and go to areas across the campus to work with the Gadsden State advising team for assistance with registration for fall classes. Students will then have the option to browse various programs and student services and get their student ID and parking decal. All sessions start with a check-in at 8:00 AM and will last until noon.
“All of our employees look forward to seeing our new students on campus during Cardinal Commit and helping them prepare to excel at college.” said Beck.
