…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING…
* WHAT…Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE…A portion of Cherokee County in Central Alabama.
* WHEN…Until 800 PM CDT.
* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 418 PM CDT, emergency management reported heavy rain in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring along Terrapin Creek and nearby tributaries. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include… Centre, Cedar Bluff, Centre Municipal Airport, Forney, Gaylesville, Moshat, Eastern Weiss Lake, Tennala, Cornwall Furnace Park, Western Weiss Lake, Pleasant Gap, Howells Crossroads, Coloma, Waterhouse, Spring Garden and Fullerton.

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
