EXPIRED: Flash Flood Warning for Cherokee County

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for Southern Cherokee County in northeastern Alabama until 300 PM CDT. At 159 PM CDT, the public reported high water across several roads in southern and central Cherokee County.

HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.Some locations that will experience flash flooding include…

Centre, Cedar Bluff, Centre Municipal Airport, Forney, Moshat,  Tennala, Eastern Weiss Lake, Pleasant Gap, Western Weiss Lake,  Ball Flat, Coloma, Howells Crossroads, Spring Garden and Waterhouse.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
