Boaz Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash Near Sardis
Etowah County, AL – A tragic single-vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon, May 21, has claimed the life of a Boaz woman and left another injured.
Lisa O. Fitts, 40, was fatally injured when the 2004 Honda Accord she was a passenger in left the roadway, struck a culvert, overturned, and then collided with a nearby house. Fitts was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:25 p.m. on Whitesboro Road near Beech Street, about three miles east of Sardis in Etowah County.
The driver of the vehicle, Kevin A. Owens, 36, also of Boaz, sustained injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. According to authorities, neither Fitts nor Owens were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
