Senator Andrew Jones Announces Re-election Bid

Incumbent State Senator Andrew Jones (R-Centre) will launch his campaign for re-election at events in Etowah and Cherokee Counties on May 29 and 30. Jones serves as Chair of the Veterans Affairs, Military, and Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chair of the Tourism Committee, and as a member of the powerful Senate Rules Committee.

Elected to the Alabama Senate in 2018 in his first run for public office, Jones campaigned on economic development, infrastructure, education, and protecting Alabama values. “I ran for the State Senate because I had seen first-hand as a business owner and farmer how government impacts hardworking Alabamians,” said Jones. “My priorities since taking office have been in lock-step with that original platform, and I’m proud of the accomplishments we have made.”

Senator Jones’ legislative achievements have included fighting for working Alabamians, helping small businesses and farmers, supporting veterans and the military, promoting adoption, and investing in outdoor recreation tourism. Andrew was the Senate sponsor of legislation during the 2023 and 2025 legislative sessions to cut the state grocery tax by 50%, efforts which have resulted in the largest tax cut in Alabama history. He has also been a staunch supporter of conservative priorities to secure Alabama’s elections, defend life, support the 2nd amendment, reign in illegal immigration, and protect women’s sports.

Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger offered his full backing for Jones’ re-election bid. “Senator Jones is a fighter for his district, and he has earned the respect of his colleagues with how he navigates the legislative process. Andrew has tackled some tough issues for our state, and he is not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right. He has been a champion for conservative policies that make life better for working Alabamians. Andrew has my full support and the support of our Republican caucus in his re-election effort.”

Through his chairmanship, Senator Jones has worked with key stakeholders to help make Alabama the best state in the nation for military spouse license reciprocity and the second best state for veterans to retire in. Andrew has personally championed legislation to create a statewide veterans resource center, establish accountability courts for veterans that get into legal trouble, eliminate state income taxes for deployed troops, guarantee eligibility to military dependents for high school athletics, and improve veterans’ access to mental health services.

Andrew was one of only 49 leaders from around the United States to be selected for the prestigious 2024 Henry Toll Fellowship, and also received the Council of State Governments (CSG) 20 Under 40 Award.

Senator Jones has been equally tenacious on the local front. “The people of Etowah, Cherokee, and DeKalb elected me to be their voice and to fight to bring back resources from Montgomery,” Jones continued. “There have been millions of dollars invested in roads and bridges, high speed internet, school classrooms, and economic development across District 10. While these investments were definitely a team effort, they are all part of a record that I proudly stand on.”

During his first race for Senate, Andrew campaigned on three major road and bridge projects. The first, an expansion of U.S. Highway 411 between Etowah and Cherokee Counties– a $43 million project– is complete. The second, the I-759 Eastern Connector, a $65 million project, is currently in the property acquisition phase, following completion of a $2 million engineering design. Proposals for the third project, a new northbound Southside bridge, were presented to the public last year.

Senator Jones also takes pride in $17 million in investments in the Northeast Alabama Regional (NEAR) Megasite. These funds were made possible through the Growing Alabama Tax Credit and the SEEDS Act, both legislative acts that were supported by Senator Jones, and in the case of the former, amended to prioritize megasite properties over 1000 acres like the NEAR site.

Andrew is the founder and owner of Deep South Coffee Factory, a craft coffee roasting company.  He is also a fourth-generation cattle farmer and shareholder in Paul Jennings Farms, Inc., which is named after his late grandfather. Andrew and his wife Summer reside in Centre, and are members of Centre First Baptist Church, where he serves as pianist.
