Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association Memorial Day Ceremony

Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association Memorial Day Ceremony

The Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association invites the public to a Memorial Day ceremony honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives to preserve our freedom.

πŸ“… Date: Monday, May 26, 2025
πŸ•™ Time: 10:00 A.M.
πŸ“ Location: Ola Lee Mize Patriots Park at Noccalula Falls

Join us as we pay tribute to our fallen heroes. Several military organizations will participate in this solemn observance. A special presentation will feature Craig Scott’s moving portrayal of local hero Frank Towers β€” a former Gadsden police officer and Navy chief gunner’s mate. Towers was Alabama’s first World War II casualty, losing his life on October 31, 1941, when the USS Reuben James was sunk by a German submarine. His courageous efforts to help fellow sailors during the attack remain a powerful symbol of service and sacrifice.

Some seating will be available, but guests are welcome to bring their own chairs. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the nearby Kiwanis Pavilion adjacent to Patriot Park.

This meaningful event is a wonderful opportunity for families and individuals of all ages to remember and honor those who gave all for our country.

Let us come together as a community to honor their memory. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
