Strong Storms Possible Saturday; Be Weather Aware

The National Weather Service Office in Birmingham tells WEIS Radio News we could experience strong to severe weather on Saturday.

The Weather Service says a frontal boundary will bring thunderstorms to the area early Saturday morning. Additional thunderstorms are expected to develop in the afternoon. The activity in the afternoon is conditional, depending on how far into the area the front moves Saturday morning, coverage of the morning activity, and how long activity lasts through the late morning.

There is a Marginal Risk for Saturday morning, and  a Marginal Risk for Saturday afternoon

* Saturday Morning

* Where: Northern 1/2 of the area
* When: 3 am to 11 am
* Threats: Damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size

* Saturday Afternoon:

* Where: Almost all of Central AL, minus the southern fifth of the area
* When: 4 pm to 10 pm
* Threats: Damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size
