Fiery Crash on I-75 in Gordon County Leaves Three Dead
A deadly multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 in Gordon County early Tuesday morning resulted in the deaths of three individuals, according to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP).
The incident began when a northbound tractor-trailer collided with a Hyundai Sonata near mile marker 308. Following the impact, the Hyundai veered off the right shoulder, while the semi-truck crossed the median into oncoming traffic.
In the southbound lanes, the semi collided with two other tractor-trailers and two passenger vehicles—a Toyota Corolla and a Ford Ranger. The Ford Ranger caught fire in the crash.
In total, six vehicles were involved. Three people were killed, two were hospitalized, and two others escaped injury.
Authorities shut down both directions of I-75 starting in the 6:00 a.m. hour, with the southbound lanes remaining closed for much of the morning as emergency crews responded.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, pending family notification. The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the cause of the initial crash.
