Amy E. Chester. age 89 of Centre, passed away on May 7, 2025. Funeral Services will be held
on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church, County Road 22, Centre,
Alabama with the Rev. Ricky Pollard and Rev. Eugene Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in
the Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the hour of
service.
Pallbearers include Ben Chester, Gabe Chester, Josh McGowan, Sean Peek, Caleb Harbour
and Andy Dingus.
Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Baker, Chris Baker, Dylan Baker, Wayne Maddox, Graham
Tolbert and the Joy Sunday School Class.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Church of your choice.
Amy, known to her family as “Nanny” is survived by a daughter, Michelle (Randy) Baker of
Centre, a son, Jeff (Rachael) Chester of Centre, a sister Mildred Austin; 7 grandchildren; Taylor
(Sean) Peek, Lauren (Josh McGowan), Ben Chester, Gabe Chester, Michael (Kim) Baker, Chris
Baker, and Amy Baker. 8 great grandchildren, Allie Peek, Kynley Peek, Ella McGowan,
Charleigh McGowan and Dylan (Kayla) Baker, Abby Baker, Xavier Dekarske and chosen grand-
son Caleb Harbour. 2 great-great grandchildren, Konner and Kannonn Baker; special niece,
Julie (Andy) Dingus along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gus and Eunice Eller, her brothers, John and Bud
Eller, a sister, Sybil Lott, brother in-law Dorm Lott and nephew Ken Lott.
She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church for 53 years. She was an active member of
the Joy Sunday School where she served as Treasurer.
Ms. Chester, better known as “Miss Amy”, served as the Financial Secretary at Pine Grove
Baptist Church for 35 years. She spent much of her time serving and helping those in need and
always set a Christian example to everyone she met. She was known for calling church
members on their birthday, a tradition she kept doing even up until a few weeks before her
passing.
Amy Chester spent her life teaching her family about grace and how to live each day with grace.
