FLORENCE – The Cherokee County Warriors finished sixth in the Class 4A golf sub-state round at Blackberry Trail Golf Course in Florence on Monday. The Warriors shot 311 as a team.
Aiden Whitefield and Sam Dreps led the Warriors. Both holed 77 and finished 25th and 26th respectively. Asher Ellis shot 78 to finish 31st. Jack Davis delivered a 79 to finish 33rd, and Cole Chandler finished 43rd at 85.
Haleyville’s Hudson Lawson topped the field after shooting 67. Teammate Tyden Steele finished a stroke back at 68. Westminster Christian’s Noah Hodgens and Westbrook Christian’s Cove McHugh rounded out the top five. Both players shot 71.
Haleyville topped the team standings after shooting 282. Westbrook Christian came in second at 290. Both teams qualify for the state golf tournament at Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham next week.
