Warriors compete in Class 4A state track and field meet at Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES – Cherokee County High School competed in the Class 4A state track and field meet at Gulf Shores over the weekend. The Lady Warriors finished 17th with 22 points. The Warrior boys tied for 31st with six other schools with four points.

Shamiya McElrath led the Lady Warriors by finishing third in the 200m (25.51), fifth in the 400m (59.55) and seventh in the 100m (12.77).

Deannia Starr finished fourth in the discus (111-02) and sixth in the shot put (35-00.50). Ashton Pruett was seventh in the shot put (35-00.00).

Randolph won the girls meet with a total of 45 points. Brooks finished second with 41 points. Hatton came in third with 39 points.

In the 4A boys meet, Bryce Gaudreau won first place in two ambulatory events: the 100m (15.10) and 200m (29.50). Daniel Burton also placed first in a pair of ambulatory events: the discus (41-06) and the shot put (14-01.50).

Anniston topped the field after scoring 82 total points. Hamilton was second with 69 points. W.S. Neal finished third with 51 points.
