Cherokee County EMA Shines Their Spotlight on Jamey Walker!
From the Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency:
Throughout the month of April, Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is proud to shine a spotlight on the outstanding leaders who work tirelessly to protect and serve our community. Join us as we recognize the dedication, experience, and leadership of public safety professionals across Cherokee County.
Today, we are honored to highlight Spring Creek Fire Chief Jamey Walker.
Chief Jamey Walker began his fire service career in 1999 at the age of 16 when he joined Spring Creek Fire Department. His dedication, leadership, and passion to public safety led to his election as Fire Chief in 2009, a role in which he continues to serve today.
Over the years, Chief Walker has completed extensive training, including Certified Volunteer Firefighter 160, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, EMT, Pump Operations, Water Supply and Water Shuttle Operations, Advanced Fireground Tactics, Confined Space Rescue, and High Angle Rescue. His hands-on experience and technical expertise are matched by his steadfast commitment to the community.
In addition to his fire service career, Jamey has worked for Georgia Power for 19 years. He spent 11 years at Plant Hammond before transitioning to Plant Bowen, where he has served for the past 8 years. He currently holds the position of Maintenance Team Leader, overseeing operations in the Mechanical Maintenance Division.
Jamey has been married to his wife Mandy for 22 years. Together, they have three daughters: Jordyn, Rylie, and Paityn. He is a proud husband, father, and leader who remains deeply rooted in his family, career, and community.
Jamey’s leadership has been a driving force behind significant improvements within the Spring Creek Fire District. Under his guidance, the department has successfully upgraded its entire fleet of trucks and constructed a new fire station at John’s Crossroads—an accomplishment that brings to life a vision long held since the department’s inception. Several of the original members are especially proud to see this dream realized. With strong leadership comes a strong department, and Chief Jamey Walker is a clear example of that principle in action.
