Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall will join the Children’s Advocacy Center of Cherokee County for its annual Save Jane event on Friday, May 9, 2025, a solemn but powerful observance that honors the voices of child abuse victims and underscores the urgent need for continued prevention and advocacy efforts.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the lawn of the Cherokee County Courthouse (100 Main Street, Centre, AL 35960) with the reading of the names of children served by the CAC over the past 25 years. At 11:00 a.m., Attorney General Marshall will be present for the reading of names from the most recent fiscal year, highlighting the continued prevalence of child abuse in our communities.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to an Open House at the Children’s Advocacy Center (411 North River Street, Centre, AL 35960).
“This tradition is a moving reminder of why we do this work,” said Lori Harris, Executive Director of the CAC. “Every name represents a story—and every story deserves to be heard. We are honored to welcome Attorney General Marshall as we stand together in support of children and families impacted by abuse.”
Community members are encouraged to attend and stand in solidarity.
