SPRING GARDEN – Addie Word and Kendall Birchfield combined for the no-hitter in three innings against Gaylesville on Monday in the Class 1A, Area 12 softball tournament. The Lady Panthers posted a 20-0 win.

Word worked the first inning and allowed just one walk with a pair of strikeouts. Birchfield tossed the other two innings, walking two and striking out two.

Rylie Ham led the Lady Panthers at the plate with a pair of hits, a run and two RBIs. Helena Ingram added a hit, two walks and three runs. Kylie Bates contributed a hit, a walk and two runs. Paisley Woodall finished with a hit and scored a run.

Lydia Reynolds, Kylie Canada and Shelby Sullivan each drew a walk for Gaylesville. Abbie Bishop suffered the loss.

Gaylesville was later eliminated from the tournament with a 14-4 loss to Jacksonville Christian.

Spring Garden will play Coosa Christian on Tuesday in the winners bracket at 3:30 p.m. Coosa Christian defeated Jacksonville Christian 6-5 in nine innings to advance.
