Sand Rock, Cedar Bluff dominant in Class 2A, Section 4 Track and Field meet

SCOTTSBORO – Sand Rock and Cedar Bluff turned in dominating performances in the Class 2A, Section 4 track and field meet on Friday and Saturday.

Sand Rock’s boys won the sectional with 177 total points. Cedar Bluff finished runner-up with 84 points. Pleasant Valley took third with 73 points.

In the girls sectional, Sand Rock and Cedar Bluff finished second and third respectively. The Lady Wildcats accumulated 123.5 points, while the Lady Tigers – who had only seven girls competing in the meet – earned 64 points. Pisgah won the 2A girls sectional meet with 203 points.

Sand Rock’s boys earned podium sweeps in the 1600m (Caleb Yoder, Brody Johnson and Bryant Yoder), 3200m (Caleb Yoder, Johnson and Adan Linares), and discus (Jimmy Wells, Mason Moore and Bryson Lindsey).

Caleb Yoder won first place in all four of his events (800m run, 1600m run, 3200m run, and the 4x800m relay). The Wildcat boys also earned first place in the 4x400m relay.

Lindsey was third in both the 200m and 400m dashes. Landon Chadwick came in third in both the 110m and 300m hurdles. Gatlin Cox earned third place in the high jump.

Cedar Bluff’s boys were paced by Zyrese Wynn, who earned gold medals in the 400m, 300m hurdles, and the 200m. He also took silver in the 800m.

Dylan McDaniel took silver in the 400m, 200m, and the high jump. He was also third in the 200m.

In the girls sectional, Sand Rock was paced by its 4x400m relay team. They took first place after coming from 30m behind on the last leg to win the race. The Lady Wildcats also won the 4x800m.

Individual Lady Wildcat first-place finishes included Emma Swain in the 3200m run and Audrey Jones in the pole vault.

Katelin Stiefel placed second in the 1600m run. She was also third in the 800m dash. Mirissa King took second in the discus. Anna King was third in the 1600m run and Evelyn Ealy finished third in the 3200m run.

The Lady Wildcats were also third in the 4x100m relay.

Cedar Bluff’s Scarlett Brown won gold in the 1600m and took silver in the 800m. Skye Jordan took silver in the shot put and bronze in the 200m. Jakira Brown earned bronze in discus and Paityn Walker took bronze in the javelin.

In the Class 1A boys sectional meet, the Gaylesville Trojans finished eighth with 13 points. Faith Christian won the 1A boys meet with 167 points.

Aydn Heinrich led the Trojans with a fourth place finish in the 400m dash. He also came in fifth in the 200m dash and seventh in the 100m dash.
