The DEA’s National Prescription Drug take back day is going to happen April 26, 2025. The purpose of this day is to dispose of unused prescriptions. According to the DEA.gov website the drug overdose epidemic in the United States is a clear and present public health, public safety, and national security threat. DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.
The take back will take place from 10 a.m.to 2p.m. for our listening area you can take your unused prescriptions to the Etowah County Drug Unit which is at the Etowah County courthouse. You can also take them to the Jacksonville Police department which will be at the Wal-Mart located at 1625 Pelham Rd S, Jacksonville, AL 36265.
