CORDOVA – The Cherokee County Warriors managed to score a combined two runs in a Class 4A baseball playoff doubleheader at Cordova on Friday, leading to a Blue Devil sweep. The scores were 8-1 and 3-1 in eight innings.
In the first game, Cordova pounded out 16 hits. Ben Elsberry suffered the loss after allowing six earned runs on 10 hits with a walk and two strikeouts in three innings. Evan Hill also tossed three innings and gave up an earned run on six hits with a walk.
Parker Wilson had a hit and scored the lone Warrior run in the top of the sixth inning. Adam Griffith, Aiden Bobbitt, Case Hill and Evan Hill each added a hit. Carson Tittle drew a walk.
Tittle suffered the tough-luck loss in the second game after working 7 2/3 innings. He didn’t allow an earned run. He allowed six hits and a pair of walks and finished with nine strikeouts.
Evan Hill worked 1/3 of an inning and had a strikeout.
At the plate, Tittle doubled and scored a run. Griffith had a pair of hits and a walk. Bobbitt finished with a hit.
Cherokee County’s season ends at 18-15 under first-year head coach Josh Decker.
