Centre- The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce and Tourism hosted their 79th annual meeting Thursday night at the Richard Lindsey Arena on the Campus of Gadsden State Cherokee.
A welcome was given by Chairman Bill Warren, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department Honor Guard presented the colors for the pledge, and the national anthem was led by Sanannah Byers Woodham.
The invocation was then given by Cyndi Day, before special guest Chairman Bill Warren spoke.
There was a special recognition from Daniel Steele, IDA Director, for Richard Lindsey and KTH for accomplishments they have been recognized for recently.
Following, the awards presentation began, and the following awards were presented:
The Chairman’s Merit Award: Jerry Baker
Beautification Award: Peoples Bank of Alabama
Mary George Waite Spirit Award: Shawn Rogers
WA “Dub” Ellis Community Service Award: Ed Allen
Special Recognition: Barbra Harris
Chamber Scholarship ($2,000): Kirsten Teague
Chamber Recognition: Aimee Kilgo and Craig Gilley
Then the election of officers was held, before outgoing Chairman Bill Warren passed the gavel to New Chairman Beverly Edwards.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by Savannah Byers Woodham.
