CENTRE – The Cherokee County Warriors scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, then held on in the top of the seventh for a 4-2 baseball win over Ohatchee on Monday.
The Warriors (18-13) managed just three hits in the game. Carson Tittle doubled, walked and scored a run. Case Hill had a hit, a walk and a run. Parker Wilson finished with a hit and scored run. Ben Elsberry drew a walk and Evan Hill scored a run.
Tittle and Elsberry both tossed two innings. Tittle gave up two earned runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts. Elsberry didn’t allow a run on three hits with three strikeouts. Wilson worked three innings of one-hit ball with a walk and six strikeouts.
Cherokee County opens the Class 4A baseball playoffs at Cordova and Friday. The first game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Game two will follow at 6 p.m., with a third game, if necessary, at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
