High school baseball playoffs begin Friday

The high school baseball playoffs begin on Friday. Each series is a best-of-three game format. Admission is $12 for a doubleheader and $10 for a third game.

Six WEIS coverage area teams are among those competing, including two in classes 1A and 3A.

In Class 1A, Pickens Academy is at Spring Garden for a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m., with the second game scheduled for 7p.m. A third game if necessary is at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Gaylesville Trojans are at South Lamar, with Friday’s doubleheader slated for 2 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. (11 a.m. Saturday if necessary).

In Class 2A, Cedar Bluff travels to Decatur Heritage for a Friday doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. (1 p.m. Saturday if necessary).

In Class 3A, Rogers is at Collinsville for a Friday doubleheader at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (Noon Saturday if necessary). Gordo travels to Piedmont on Friday for a doubleheader at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Noon Saturday if necessary).

And in Class 4A, the Cherokee County Warriors travel to Cordova on Friday with that doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. (11 a.m. Saturday if necessary).
