The latest Alabama Sports Writers Association softball and baseball rankings were released early Thursday morning, and two area teams saw their stocks improve.

In softball, Class 1A Spring Garden (9-7-2) is up a spot to No. 9, and in baseball, Class 3A Collinsville moved up a notch to No. 8.

Class 4A Cherokee County softball (19-4) maintained its No. 5 ranking. Collinsville softball (9-9) is still among those teams receiving nominations.

Cherokee County (16-13), Piedmont (13-12), Cedar Bluff (14-12) and Spring Garden (15-6) baseball also received nominations.
