Cherokee County EMA Puts Centre Fire Chief Robert Pace in the Spotlight

Throughout the month of April, Cherokee County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is proud to shine a spotlight on the outstanding leaders who work tirelessly to protect and serve our community. Join us as we recognize the dedication, experience, and leadership of public safety professionals across Cherokee County.
Today, we are honored to highlight Centre Fire Chief Robert Pace
Chief Robert Pace began his career of service in 2004 when he enlisted in the Alabama Army National Guard. During his time in the Guard, he served in several key units, including the 2025th Transportation Company, the 1343rd Chemical Company, and the 152nd Military Police Company. Chief Pace graduated from Cherokee County High School in 2005 and went on to earn certifications as a Truck Driver in February 2006 and a Military Policeman in May 2006.
Chief Pace deployed to Iraq from September 2006 to October 2007 with the National Guard. In January 2008, he transitioned to Active Duty Army, stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the prestigious 101st Airborne Division. His military service included further deployments to Iraq (October 2008 – June 2009) and Afghanistan (July 2011 – July 2012), as well as a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo while stationed in Germany from 2012 to 2016.
Throughout his Army career, he served as a Law Enforcement Patrolman at Fort Campbell and a Law Enforcement Patrol Supervisor during his time in Germany.
Following his military service, Chief Pace began his fire service career in 2016 with the Mt. Weisner Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as President, Training Officer, and Board Member. In 2017, he joined the Centre Fire Department, steadily rising through the ranks from Firefighter to Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and now serves as the department’s Chief. In April 2024, he was appointed full-time Fire Marshal for the City of Centre.
Chief Pace has earned numerous certifications through the Alabama Fire College, including: Firefighter 160, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Fire Investigator, Fire Inspector I, II, and III, Wildland Firefighter, Fire Instructor, and Public Life Safety Educator.
Committed to public safety, training, and community outreach, Chief Pace continues to dedicate his career to the protection and service of the citizens of Centre and Cherokee County.
