Sherman Nicholas Pierce Sentenced in Marshall County for Attempting to Kill Arab Police Officers

Marshall County- Sherman Nicholas Pierce had led Arab police on a chase in 2022. During that event, he tried to kill 2 Arab police officers. Pierce fired multiple shots at police officers after his vehicle wrecked during the chase.  He was convicted of the crime in February of this year, but was sentenced today.

Pierce received the maximum amount of time allowed  for the charges, three life sentences. Initially he was able to get away from officers in the incident. A vehicle was struck, but the officers were not injured. Police K-9 Units were unable to locate him, due to him using water to hide his scent.  The Arab Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, Guntersville Police Department, FBI, and the U.S. Marshals Service were able to capture him after a three day manhunt and arrest him.

The Honorable Judge Christopher Abel, Circuit Judge presided over the case.

In addition to the three life sentences for the attempted murder charges and for firing into an occupied vehicle, he was also sentenced to a year for attempting to elude.
