GADSDEN – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats split a pair of softball games Friday in the Gadsden Umpires Softball Tournament. They defeated Southside 5-3 and fell to Pisgah 6-3.
In the win over Southside, Sand Rock scored all five of its runs in the top of the fourth inning. A. McMichen (4) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Maddie Clanton also had a pair of hits with a run and a RBI.
Raven Todd tallied a hit and scored a run. Addisyn McMichen contributed a hit. Aliyah King walked twice, scored a run and had a RBI. Emma Sipsy also walked twice and drove in a run. Aubie Camp walked and scored a run. Madison Walker also scored a run.
Macy Martin earned the win in the circle. She tossed five innings and gave up three earned runs on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts.
In the loss to Pisgah, Alyvia McMichen went 3-for-3 with a double, a run and two RBIs. Sipsy doubled, walked and scored a run. King contributed a hit and a walk. Martin managed a hit and a run. Camp came away with a hit and a RBI. Todd and Addisyn McMichen (10) both finished with a hit.
Sipsy was credited with the win after working 4 2/3 innings. She allowed two earned runs on nine hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Sand Rock continues tournament play Saturday morning against Etowah at 9 a.m.
