On Friday morning witnesses reported seeing a body in the East Bound land of US Highway 431, near the Historic Alabama City Library and old Fire Station between where 27th and 28th Street Intersect.First Responders had the road closed, and traffic was being diverted around the scene.
Sgt. Dusty Ford of the Gadsden Police force later released the following statement concerning the incident.
“Early this morning, our Patrol Division responded to an incident in Alabama City where a local woman was struck by a vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Our investigation determined the incident was intentional and resulted in their death by suicide.
We extend our condolences to the family and those affected by this event.”
Sgt. Ford, who is the information officer for the Gadsden police force, went on to say “We commend the professionalism and dedication of our first responders, including officers from the Gadsden Police Department, dispatchers, Gadsden Fire Department personnel, and emergency medical services, who responded swiftly and efficiently under challenging circumstances.”
The victims name has not been released yet we will update this story as it develops.
