Spring Garden softball holds off Cedar Bluff 5-3

SPRING GARDEN – Despite only having a pair of hits, the Spring Garden Lady Panthers capitalized on eight Cedar Bluff errors to earn a 5-3 softball win on Thursday.

Avery Steward earned the win in the circle after working all seven innings. She gave up three earned runs – all in the top of the seventh – on seven hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Steward was also 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk and two runs.

Addie Word had the other Lady Panther hit. She also scored a run. Helena Ingram drove in a pair of runs and scored a run. Olivia Law also scored a run.

Rylie Walker led the Lady Tigers at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Kylie Vadon was 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI. Anna Henderson had a hit and a run. Logan Goza finished with a hit.

Paityn Walker walked and drove in a run. Makayla Kimmons scored a run.

Kaylyn Vadon suffered the loss. She gave up five unearned runs on two hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Cedar Bluff is at West End on Monday. Spring Garden is at Faith Christian, also on Monday.
