Alma Buttram Waldrop, age 86 of Piedmont, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at Cherokee County Health & Rehab. A funeral service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in the Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jonathan Maddox officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Church Cemetery (Co. Rd. 19). Pallbearers will include Jimmy Smith, Byron Smith, Eric Sims, Mackey Roland, Scottie Roland, Mitch Slayton, Dalton Slayton and Jody Laney. Ms. Waldrop is survived by her sons, Rodney Slayton (Denise), Guy Mitchell Slayton (Margie) and Ben Motes (Jan); daughter, Dimples Kanipe (Shorty); sister, Pat Maddox (Kenneth); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosa Sweat; sisters, Willie Roland and Juanita Hillburn; brothers Earl Buttram, Tommy Buttram and Virgil Buttram. Ms. Waldrop was a lifelong native of Alabama and she was the daughter of the late George Emerson and Beulah King Buttram. She was of the Baptist faith.
