There were slight changes for area teams in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association softball and baseball rankings. The latest poll was released early Thursday morning.

In softball, Cherokee County (13-2) maintained its No. 5 ranking in Class 4A. Spring Garden (7-6-2) dropped a spot to No. 10 in the Class 1A poll.

New to the softball nominations this week is Class 3A Collinsville (7-7).

In baseball, Cedar Bluff (13-8) holds steady at No. 8 in the Class 2A poll. Collinsville (13-6) is down a spot to No. 9 in the Class 3A rankings.

Other area teams nominated this week include Cherokee County (12-11), Piedmont (7-8) and Spring Garden (9-6).
